A government appointed assessor oversees the cleaning process and assesses all the Eiderdown that is used in our Skarð Eiderdown bedding. Each duvet is given the Icelandic Government Seal of Quality and a serial number by the same assessor that follows the down from nest to duvet. The Seal of Quality is overseen by the Icelandic Ministry of Industries and Innovation and secures the quality of the product.
In addition, a stamped Government Certificate of Authenticity and Origin of the Eiderdown, featuring a unique serial number, is provided with every Skarð duvet. Duvets filled outside of Iceland cannot be given this prestige seal; therefore the Icelandic Government’s Seal of Quality is precisely the difference, which all buyers should look for; a guarantee that every Skarð duvet is filled with only the purest Icelandic Eiderdown.
Not only does the Icelandic Government Controller perform quality control with every Skarð duvet produced, but we are also internationally tested. The International Down and Feather Testing Laboratory (IDFL), a global leader in down and feather and textile product testing, tests our products and raw material every few years. The last time our down was tested was in 2011, where it was tested as being 99.8% pure – our products are some of the best in the world.
